A short side trip involved a quick ascent of Maxson Dome. 

Second Day: With a little effort, we're ready to climb Maxson Dome. This short trip is intended to get us acclimated and accustomed to the terrain. This was a few miles of cross country hiking up from our camp site. 

The view from up top was pleasant and intimidating. Here we looked out at the LeConte Divide, to where we would be heading. Ultimately, Mt. Henry was our destination.
