| For the month of May, one may wonder if the higher Sierra is clear of snow to explore. The snow pack farther West is less dense at elevations 8,000 feet and below. However, at the base of the higher alpine elevations are still considerably built up even for mid-Spring. It isn't until June that these areas might be explored and even then it's necessary to give due care to stream or river crossings. | ||||
